General Manager
Olav Lühr
Mandate
We offer support to:
- all businesses, both existing and new, in the municipality of Aurland
- new processing industry using electric power
- the development of anorthosite processing industry
Available to all:
- financial support (from the municipal business fund)
- free help and guidance; we can provide consultants for example
- available industrial sites
- good access by sea or land, including good harbours in Aurland, Flåm and Gudvangen
- good business climate in synergy with our neighbouring municipalities
We also offer:
- very large power resources at competitive terms for industries using electric power for processes.
- large deposits of the mineral anorthosite in Gudvangen. Anorthosite is currently mainly used in the production of the insulation material rock wool. This resource will also be processed into aggregates for asphalt. Refined anorthosite is white, making it highly suitable for light asphalt surfaces. A light-coloured top layer reduces heat gain, which is especially useful in cities in summer. Light road surfaces also look better in the landscape.
Application procedure
- Contact Olav Lühr by e-mail or phone for more information or to set up a meeting. E-mail: olav@aurlandnu.no, telephone: +47 90030374.
- Fill in the application form, write a business plan and read Aurland Business Fund’s rules before the meeting. You can find the files here.
- Applications are handled on fixed dates during the year.
- After entering into a mutual agreement with applicants we set requirements to be met. If necessary we call on external legal assistance to determine whether the agreement is being adhered to. If an agreement is not adhered to and repayment is demanded, a debt collection agency will be used.

All applications should be directed to Aurland Næringsutvikling, which will assess whether the case will be handled by itself or by one of its two partners.
Nærøyfjord World Heritage Park
The municipality of Aurland is part of Nærøyfjord World Heritage Park, a Norwegian version of the European regional park concept. As it says on the park’s website: “The park wishes to promote the safeguarding of landscape and cultural values through the cultural and financial development of the local community. Sustainable conservation requires that those who live and work in the area should identify with its qualities and should have the opportunity to develop them.”
The park status permits the continuation of existing businesses and the establishment of new ones, provided this unique landscape is safeguarded.
